It certainly does! So does praise.
                   See Psalm 105:1-4

Here are some special items for prayer and praise in which we greatly appreciate your fellowship
and involvement.

Praise God that Malawi is now peaceful once more after a series of disturbances on 20 and 21 July which seemed to have been sparked by severe and continuing fuel shortages. ZM's own staff, both missionary and Malawian, were affected by the troubles, with the ZM office closing early to allow staff to return home safely, and a team returning from running the first Pastors' Bookset Conference having to drive through affected areas. But the Lord protected them all and they are unharmed. The team driving back from the Conference reported: "We got through Zomba at 4.30pm and later heard that by 5.30pm there was a lot of trouble in the town. By the time we reached Blantyre the disturbances which had raged all afternoon had recently died down.  Praise God".
Please pray that peace will be maintained in this normally tranquil though desperately poor country and that fuel will soon be readily available again to get the country moving.

We also praise the Lord for the Pastors' Bookset Conference which have just been held. We thank Him for the really good numbers attending in spite of the fuel shortages and for the valuable times of fellowship and teaching enjoyed by the participants. All those attending took home a small set of devotional and study books.
Please pray that these resources will benefit many in the Churches as pastors, elders, youth and ladies leaders make use of them.

Jonathan Groves, visiting from Scotland, writes concerning the first conference held in Liwonde 18-22 July,
"It has been a great week of Bible ministry and I am delighted by the advance of the Gospel through these conferences".  There is a real thirst for training for discipleship, even if no books are offered. There was a great sense of unity across the denominations". Jonathan also noted during the several useful conversations he had while waiting for fuel, "There is a real desire for Bibles to be made available, including in the Malawi police".

Simon Chikwana, ZM's Field Director in Malawi, reports that "106 people attended the Liwonde conference. They included pastors, elders, bishops and several wives representing 20 denominations".

Please continue to pray for Simon, and Rosie Chirwa, ZM Project Co-ordinator, as they adjust to their vital roles in Malawi. We praise God for them and for the impact they are already having after just a few months in the work. Jonathan Groves writes, "It has been lovely to meet Simon and Rosie, and renew acquaintance with Zione, ZM's administrator.  What delightful and Godly people!"

Much prayer is need as we approach the final stages in the appointment of successor to Jim Hasnip who is due to retire early next year. Preliminary interviews are scheduled for 11 August with the final interview planned for 6 September when the ZM Executive Council will be meeting in York.
Please pray for the candidates and for the Council that the interviews will take place in an atmosphere of cordial fellowship and that Heavenly wisdom and grace be granted to everyone involved.

After their busy UK visit during which they were able to visit many Churches and see lots of friends, Ruth and Abraham are now back in Malawi trying to pack for their return to Nigeria, their home country. Deciding what to take and what to leave and having to bid farewell to so many friends and places they have grown to love makes this a stressful time and the fuel shortages and tension are not making it any easier.
Please pray for their well being and a safe arrival in Nigeria later this month.

We thank God for your fellowship in the Gospel
from the beginning until now
