Lesley and Robbie Beaton and their family who have been teaching at EBCoM for the last three years are presently visiting Churches and friends in the UK. If the support is forthcoming, they plan to return to Malawi in August to resume their work in the college and the other ministries God has given them. They are also keen to find new opportunities to work for Him. |
"We have committed a further two years to the work in Malawi." writes Robbie ."God willing and funds permitting, we look forward to continuing to minister at EBCoM and pray that God will open further doors for evangelism and discipleship ministry in the Zambesi Evangelical Churches both across Malawi and in Northern Mozambique. We also hope to cross denominational and religious lines as we serve Him".
Robbie has enjoyed teaching various subjects over the last three years. These have included Hermeneutics (Bible interpretation), Theology (Doctrines of the Christian Faith) and Homiletics (Preaching).
He is also Chaplain to the college community and takes a keen interest in seeing Godly character formed in the students by helping develop their spirituality.
Lesley has been involved in various activities in the college, include teaching in the nursery (which makes it possible for married students to bring their wives and children to the College for their last year during which the wives also take a course in Bible study, pastoral training, home care, etc.)
She also arranges social occasions for the staff, ensuring that no birthday goes unnoticed by baking cakes for a celebration in the staffroom.
Both Lesley and Robbie have been involved in initiating and implementing a termly Sports and Fellowship Day which brings faculty, administration and ground staff together with the students in an afternoon of football, netball, volleyball, tug-o-war and other fun activities. This is proving to be a great way of breaking down barriers and promoting unity.
Other ministries
Robbie's passion lies in the area of evangelism and discipleship and the Lord has opened doors for ministry beyond the college. For nearly three years he has run two Bible study groups for the golf caddies and the tennis/squash staff at the Blantyre Sports Club. Also a discipleship course for all interested staff at the club.
Robbie is involved in regular speaking opportunities for the Blantyre Youth Group and in preaching at the Blantyre Community Church. He has been especially challenged and fulfilled in preaching in the Zambesi Evangelical Churches and at various outreach events connected to ZEC.
We praise God that in all these activities He has been at work and given good fruit in new life and spiritual growth as the name of Christ has been proclaimed and exulted.
Lesley has developed a wide network of friends and acquaintances and has been able to offer encouragement and support to many in various practical ways.
