Like most small organisations, Zambesi Mission relies very
much on the work of volunteers and over the years many friends have travelled far and given many hours
to sit on the UK Council.
The Council usually has four meetings a year including a 2-3 day residential get-together based on
a ZM supporting Church. In recent years the Council has met in York Baptist Church with recent residential
meetings in locations as far apart as Soham in Cambridgeshire and Coatbridge in Scotland.
Kelvin Pritchard
This month we want to introduce you to Kelvin who lives in Wigan with his wife, Hilary and their
two children, Lois and Luke.. Kelvin, who has been a member of the Executive for 9 years, writes,
“I was looking to become more involved with missions without actually giving up my full-time
job as an NHS nurse for people with Learning Disabilities, and came across the work of ZM in Malawi.
I had a desire to support a work with aims to strengthen the local indigenous church, and preferably
one that was in a so-called Third-World Country. ZM seemed to fit both these criteria.
After supporting the mission in prayer and giving for some time, I had the opportunity to actually
go out to Malawi and see the work for myself and meet the people involved, from both Zambesi Evangelical
Churches and Zambesi Mission. This visit made a considerable impression and a short time later, in
2000, I was invited to join the Executive. I made a further visit as an Executive member in 2003 and
would like to go out again sometime. Meanwhile I am very happy to be able to make a contribution to
the work as a Council member.”
