Visitors and Volunteers

The New Year sees three people going from the UK to Malawi for the first time. All are members of Pound Lane Free Church, Isleham, Cambridgeshire.

Dave & Sue Hall are spending six weeks teaching and helping at EBCoM. With it’s strong emphasis on encouraging, strengthening and facilitating the national Christians, ZM has no plans to build a large team of ex-pat workers in Malawi. But visitors are always welcome and particularly so when they are able to contribute in the Bible College.

Dave, who is pastor of the Church in Isleham, is teaching several courses at EBCoM and will also be involved in the Extension Course programme. Sue is hoping to help in several ways including an involvement with the Third Year Wives’ Course. Both also expect to do some travelling to visit ZEC Churches and see ZEC/ZM projects.

The Mission and the College are extremely grateful to Dave & Sue for finding the time and meeting the cost of such a visit and our prayer is that, as well as bringing encouragement to others, they will be uplifted and enriched by their visit.

The principal and staff at EBCoM would be delighted to have other suitably qualified people to teach for short periods. The College is usually short staffed and greatly values help of this kind. Please get in touch with ZM if you are able and interested contribute in this way.

Carol Fernandez, who lives in Soham, is also a member of Pound Lane Church. She has taken a growing interest in Malawi and the ZM/ZEC work there and feels the Lord has brought her to the point of giving some help here in the UK in a voluntary capacity. While we are together seeking the Lord’s direction about how this will work out, Carol is making a two-week visit to see the work for herself.

She plans to renew friendships with Malawians who have visited the Church in Isleham, and hopes to visit a number of Churches and travel around to see some of the ministries in action.

Again, such visitors are always welcome with a view to contributing to ZM’s work here in the home Churches. As in Malawi, the Mission has only a small staff in the UK and is urgently seeking volunteer representatives who can give a few hours a month to visiting Church groups sharing news of ZM/ZEC’s activities in Malawi and N.Mozambique. If you feel the Lord’s direction in this way please get in touch. We would love to hear from you and have the opportunity to chat about the possibilities.
