Fiona
Mayer-Jones left ZM at the end of September to take up theological studies in Cambridge having played
an increasingly crucial role in the mission’s UK administration since she first helped
as a voluntary worker over four years ago.
Director Jim Hasnip writes, “ I well recall consulting Fiona – then administrator of
York Baptist Church – about the use of a room for a forthcoming ZM Executive Council meeting
not long after I started to work with ZM. During our chat I commented on how lovely it would be to
have a mission administrator because I was already finding the many different tasks more than I could
properly manage.
Before we parted we prayed together and as we both opened our eyes Fiona gently commented, “Perhaps
I can help”.
Well she has certainly done that ! Fiona gradually took on more and more work until she was appointed
ZM’s part-time administrator moving in stages from working one day to four days a week.
During these years with the mission Fiona has been responsible for drawing up many policies which
have helped us to comply with heath and safety issues and similar regulations in a number of public
areas. She has worked diligently and with great good humour to develop many aspects of the work; without
her a lot of what is now ZM UK policy and procedure would just not have happened !
In the last few weeks of her time with ZM Fiona has worked hard to help Richard Brassington as he
takes over the role of administrator and we thank God for a smooth transfer of duties.
Whilst we will miss Fiona greatly, we are looking to the Lord to encourage her and equip her for
the work He is giving her in the Anglican Church and very much look forward to news of her progress
and activities.
God bless you, Fiona and our very grateful thanks for all you have done and all you
have meant to us!"
