Jesus said, ‘You have received generously, give generously’ (Matthew 10:8).
Most of us know just how true the first part of His statement is. The Christmas season is a special
reminder of the ’indescribable Gift’ of His Son and also of the material riches which abound
in a country like ours.
The needs of people in lands like Malawi and Mozambique give us a good opportunity to
obey the second part of the words of Jesus!
Please consider taking this special opportunity of showing His love to someone in Africa
this Christmastime.
This information indicates some of the ways we can give meaningful gifts to people who have virtually
nothing and who, in some cases, may not yet have heard of God’s love for them.
| A
Bible |
Bibles
are available in the main languages spoken by the people of Malawi and Mozambique, and in several of
the less common languages. The problem is that very few people have any hope of ever having one of their
own. Building up a small ‘library’ of Bibles for a rural Church is one way we can help.

| Child
Health Care |
Only
about 1 in 4 Malawians receive any health care and in rural areas the situation is usually much worse.
This means that diseases which could easily be treated are often fatal for children and adults alike.
This small gift would enable staff in one of the Church’s
rural clinics to give 23 children six month’s vital treatment against worms which causes pneumonia
and many other critical problems.

| An
orphan child |
ZM
is helping the Zambesi Evangelical Churches to run several Orphan Day Care Centres where young children
receive the help which cannot be given by the homes that have taken them in - health care, clothing,
education, and nourishing meals. This gift will feed and care for a child for one month!

|
| Study
Books for Church Leaders |
Many
pastors, ladies’ leaders, youth workers and others in leadership positions are faithfully teaching
congregations and groups with few if any study materials available to them. Books received when leaving
Bible College, or at a Leaders’ Refresher Conference will probably be the only ones they ever
have!

|
|
| Church
Planter Sponsorship |
It
is thrilling to see the work being done by many of the Church planting evangelists, often in difficult
and remote locations. Only the Lord can plant and build His Church but He gives us the privilege of
supporting an evangelist for a month with a gift as small as £37.

|
|
| Pastor’s
Bicycle |
A
cycle can make a huge difference to a pastor and the congregations he serves, particularly in a country
where there is little public transport and great poverty.
This is a Christmas gift which will bring help to many people!
|
|
|
| Helping
a Nurse in training |
In
a land where doctors are few and clinics far apart, ZEC’s rural Health Centres provide a vital
service...but they need more trained staff. Each nurse takes a three year training course and a gift
of £74 will cover a month of that.

|
|
| A
Sewing Machine |
Home
based income generating projects can lift a pastor’s family out of desperate poverty. A good quality
sewing
machine is a gift which provides lasting help with clothing and income.
|
|
|
| A
Church Roof |
We
are likely to have our Christmas services in fine buildings whilst most people in Africa will worship
in the most basic surroundings. They can usually manage to fire bricks and build walls but the cost
of corrugated iron sheets for a weatherproof roof has risen greatly in recent months and is beyond most
congregations. We can help to provide a Christmas gift that will last for years!
|
|
|
| Students
in Bible College |
The
evangelical Church is growing rapidly and needs well-equipped leaders but very few Churches can raise
even part of the £700 annual fees required to send a student to the Evangelical Bible College
of Malawi. Any gift we are able to give can help to provide Bible training for a Church leader.
