Christmas Gifts 2007

One Christmas gift won’t change a country like Malawi (or Mozambique)…..

…..but it could help to change the life of someone there !

Especially when the Gift is God’s love. During this season when we realise just how much we have, we want to show His love to people who have virtually nothing. While you are puzzling over what to buy for someone who has nearly everything, please consider giving something to someone who has very little. God did just that for us ! (Luke 2:11: Romans 5:6)

One of these gifts can bring real blessing and encouragement to a relative or friend here and have a life changing effect upon someone in Africa.

A bicycle for a Pastor

In Malawi a pastor often cares for several Churches and these can be miles apart. A cycle would be of great help
in his ministry.

A Bible

Many people have little hope of ever having a Bible and one way to help is
to give some for a Church to use as a library.

A month's food for an orphan child

Most orphans are taken into homes which are already short of food and other basic resources. The ZEC Day Care Centres give nourishing meals
as well as health care, clothing, education, Christian teaching and recreation

Health Care

World Health Organisation statistics show that only 29% of Malawians receive any health care and most of these live in the urban areas. A gift of just £4 would enable the staff of a ZEC Rural Health Centre to
~ treat 20 people suffering from bouts of malaria
  or
~ give 23 children six month’s treatment  against    worms which cause pneumonia,  anaemia, gut    obstruction, malnutrition,  cerebral cysts, etc.

Goats & Chickens

For a family caring for orphans two goats and four chickens
will help to provide a livelihood. The recipients are asked to make their contribution firstly
by building a shelter for the animals and an enclosure for the hens and then eventually giving a kid and chickens so
that another family benefits
from the programme.

Study Books for Pastors

Many pastors and other Christian leaders are preaching and teaching large companies of people but have no devotional or study materials to use in preparation. The books a pastor could receive upon leaving Bible College or attending a Pastors' Refresher Course will probably be the only ones he ever owns!

Sunday School Resources

Churches have large Sunday Schools and Youth Groups but very few teaching materials.
As far as possible we want to help ZEC Churches to source children’s material which is culturally relevant for Malawi.

Sponsoring a student in Bible College

It costs about £700 a year to sponsor someone studying at the Evangelical Bible College of Malawi
~ but any gift is a help! The rapidly growing Churches are in great need of trained leaders but there is very little likelihood of a Malawian receiving such training without such support.

Thanks be to God for
His indescribable Gift

(2 Cor. 9:15)

Zambesi Mission supports the Zambesi Evangelical Church in a variety of its activities in both Malawi and Northern Mozambique.

We would be delighted to send a gift to someone there on your behalf this Christmas. We can print a
simple greetings card with brief details of the selected project for you to send to a friend or relative for whom you may have ‘given’ the gift.

Kindly send cheques and details to ~
Zambesi Mission, Spurriergate Centre, St. Michael’s Chambers, Spurriergate, York. YO1 9QR.

If you are having difficulty finding a gift for someone who has nearly         everything ….
…please consider sending something to someone who has                                    virtually nothing
