Jim
Hasnip has just returned from a busy three week visit to Malawi and northern Mozambique.
For the first half of the trip he was accompanied by Fiona Mayer-Jones, who helps with ZM administration
and Owen Davies, who helps with personnel matters. Both make a tremendous contribution in the UK and
both were paying their first visit to Malawi. Fiona commented that it was "an extremely full and worthwhile
time and great to see so many aspects of the work and to meet lots of the people to whom we relate and
of whom we have heard so much".
The
Beaton Family
In
a brief report sent from Malawi during his visit Jim wrote, "Robbie and Lesley seem to be
settling in very well indeed. They are much appreciated by everyone already and at the EBCoM Open Day,
which was last Saturday and which Owen, Fiona and I attended with Bill and Myra, they helped to run
a number of the sports' events. The general atmosphere at the college is said to be transformed this
year and this is attributed to all sorts of things but Robbie and Lesley are often mentioned as having
made a real contribution. After initially feeling a little insecure over the move, the children also
are now settling well. Robbie is teaching two subjects at EBCoM and Lesley is helping a little with
the Wives and Children's programme. They are both keen to continue their language classes so I have
agreed that we shall continue to arrange this".
Mozambique
Jim added, "The trip to Mozambique went very well and as ever we had a very warm welcome. However
David Kanyaza, Vice-Chairman of ZEC Mozambique, and a former Gen Sec, whose illness was mentioned in
our ZM prayer notes last month, died recently and the Church is still shocked and grieving. Please remember
David's family and all those who are feeling a great sense of loss at this time".
