John
Finlayson, ZM’s northern representative, brings news from Scotland.
Just three years ago, in April, 2002 I started working with Zambesi
Mission having previously been involved with a much bigger mission
agency for more than 16 years. The smaller Zambesi Mission has maintained
a strong emphasis on having close personal contact with churches here
in the UK AND the churches in Malawi and Mozambique. I was very attracted
to the whole approach of ZM which seeks to encourage the concept of
ALL of us being "workers together" ; that is, UK Churches,
Churches in Malawi and Mozambique, and the Zambesi Mission personnel
both in Malawi and here in the UK. We are all giving, working, and
praying together towards the same God-given end, the building up of
God's Church in God's world.
Over the next few weeks I shall be reporting and preaching at several
Churches in Glasgow and Lanarkshire. Some of them have donated hundreds
of pounds to sponsor students at EBCoM and love to get letters from
the grateful students telling them about their studies, their families
or perhaps their health! One of the Churches I hope to visit soon has
given hundreds of pounds to help supply bicycles for Pastors, Evangelists
and Church Planters. Individuals from these Fellowships have also generously
given for such things as Bibles, Church Roofs and Bicycles.
I also preach regularly at my own small Church which over the years
has given many thousands of pounds for my personal support. In a few
weeks time we will be having our Church Business Meeting where I shall
again say "thank you" to them for other very generous gifts
given for such things as Church Planters and Books for the EBCoM Library.
