ZM's Abraham Folayan and ZEC's Connex Ijalasi had no time or opportunity to eat turkey, plum pudding or any of the other fine foods traditionally associated with the festivities but they were well
filled just the same!
They spent the day taking relief food supplies to the villagers at Namalitha, a remote location in the Zomba region, where
280 people gathered around the tiny ZEC Church for a meal before the Gospel was shared and the food distributed. Plans had been made for 100 to eat so Sinolia
Ijalasi and the Zomba Youth Group had to work overtime to prepare for the extra crowd.
Meanwhile, Connex and Abraham visited houses in the village,
praying and witnessing as they went and inviting people to the Church. Several local chiefs and headmen attended together with groups from 5 or 6 other
Churches. Food supplies were given out to a number of nursing mothers and their children; also to the 40 people identified by local leaders as the mostly
desperately needy.
The Namilitha Headman commented, "It has never happened like this before. Church visitors usually bring gifts for their
own people but you are giving to all those in need." Abraham and Connex were able to continue this witness by distributing Bibles to each of the Church
groups. These were from different denominations - only the ZEC folk missed out! They will have other opportunities to receive Bibles when further visits
take place to give out food supplies.
The people were present from 9am until darkness forced Abraham, Connex and Sinolia to set off on the return
journey to Blantyre at 6pm!
Abraham says, "We had no time to eat or drink at all during the day, but we were filled….with joy! It was
a wonderful, wonderful day; the best Christmas of my life!"
