The
Chairman of the Zambesi Evangelical Churches in the UK, Rev Mwai Kamuyambeni, who was
re-elected as ZEC Chairman during the September Synod meetings in Blantyre, has just completed an encouraging series of meetings and visits in Scotland
and the North of England. Accompanied by Bill Wilson (ZM Field Director in Malawi) in Scotland and David Faulkner (ZM Treasurer) in England, Mwai visited
a number of Churches and had several appointments with individuals as well as meetings in colleges and universities. He also met with the UK Executive of
ZM during November meetings at Bawtry Hall.

There
was time for some relaxation before returning to a heavy programme in Malawi and among the highlights was a visit to David Livingstone's birthplace in Blantyre,
Scotland. The following are among the observations Rev Kamuyambeni made before leaving
Britain ~

the very warm welcome received in all UK Churches and homes. He enjoyed the opportunity
to relax - and even play some games here - a luxury he never has in Malawi! In fact
he came to realise how important this is for effective pastoring and
leadership.
-
the generosity of UK Churches towards missions the fact that the Zambesi Mission is happy
to see monies sent to strengthen and build up the Church in Malawi rather than its own organisation and reputation in Britain.
-
that the UK is rich materially while Malawi is rich spiritually.
-
although there are relatively few Christians in the UK they are generally well
rooted in the faith, while in Malawi this is not so, because of lack of teaching and
resources.
-
the need for revival in UK and spiritual growth in Malawi.
Mwai urged UK Christians to reach out boldly with the power and confidence which God gives,
in spite of the low attendances in Churches. (Zechariah 4:6)
